Jacob was so wanting to go outside and play with sidewalk chalk after dinner today, but with the West Nile Virus a bit out of control in North Texas, we just don't go out after dinner once it's dusk. My mother called, so it was Grandmother to the rescue! She talked to Jacob and we avoided a pre-bath meltdown and my sweet Jacob was distracted and wanted to play with playdough! It was the first time he has chosen this off his play shelf and I was thrilled! We've introduced this homemade playdough a few times, but he has never really taken to it - it seems he doesn't love the feeling of it when it sticks on his hands. Well, he recently got a great, kid's baking set from Grandmother, so we brought that out and had some playdough time and talked shapes! It was so much fun and a great end to the day! Now I'm wanting to make some more in different colors and add a drop or two of essential oils to give it some scent (though nothing too appetizing, haha!).

His work! He liked the star and heart because he would say those - and the moon, though he wasn't sure why I called the moon shape a "moon", since he is used to the pictures in his books where it is full, haha!

Then he grabbed one of his "open and close" items and started filling it with the cookie cutters.
A frustrated boy - the cookie cutters he had smashed into the dough were a bit hard to get out and he wanted to put them in his tin - we worked on "help please, Mama" and all was well.
