Gathered with my closest girlfriends and family in Franklin, TN, excited about becoming Mrs. Joshua Patrick Bruffey! With 2 days until our wedding, my girls and I spent a fun night together with gifts, girl talk, and some fun at Dave and Busters.

6 years later... spent a couple days taking care of my beloved son, Jacob, who fought his first (and hopefully ONLY) round of croup this week. Spent almost 2 hours in the afternoon Skyping with a dear friend from Gallaudet who is also a Mama to a precious son. A much more laid back day and night!

The day really began with my bridal luncheon in the hotel lobby where we were staying. It was a great time with some yummy, catered Chick-fil-A and gifts for my special ladies, including my beloved Mother, nieces, sisters-in-law and mother-in-law!

Me and my Mama! A woman who taught me about motherhood - to love, laugh, be silly, be creative, guide, discipline, have boundaries, but flexibility, and do what your God-given instincts guide you to do for your child. My Mama has always remained committed to taking care of and loving her children and there is no greater gift to a woman than to have a Mother who stays committed, involved, loving, and present. And she is just as amazing as a grandmother!

Virginia - Twins by birth, sisters forever... a friendship deep and eternal!
Maren - my sister of the heart, a divine gift in my life and friendship that has stood the test of time and life!
My beloved other sister - my college roommate, Emily - a unique friendship that weathered through one of the most difficult times in my life and has stayed true and deep - now with shared motherhood of firstborn sons!
Later that evening, we enjoyed our wedding rehearsal (well... it was a bit loooong... so enjoyed may be stretching it ;-) ), but we had a blast at the amazing rehearsal dinner my mother-in-law hosted!!
Me and my Daddy! A daddy's girl at heart - I still call him about car issues no matter how far away I live! And trust his advice on work, finances, career and family. Love my Daddy!
Of course... me and my beloved at our wedding rehearsal! I couldn't smile BIG enough! I knew more certainly than almost anything I was where I should be, and with the person I should be with... until death separates us.... 6 years later, this hasn't changed!

Jacob is on his final day of treatment for croup, so we worked to keep him occupied and calm *cough* - although one of his favorite current activities is to run at full speed and dive into the dog's bed or the floor or our bed... and we just catch our breath and hope and pray he makes his target! I pulled out some resources from my short term teaching "career" (see post here) and am working to create more creative learning with some structure for our curious, smart little boy!
After nap time, we headed to Lowe's and bought some shelf brackets for some shelving we want to hang in our children's rooms - at $0.88/each for just 10 brackets - we were pleased! After Jacob was in bed asleep, we grabbed some sandpaper to sand down our new brackets (they only come in white), then headed outside with one of my favorite things for DIY home projects - SPRAY PAINT! We look forward to spending tomorrow hanging some shelves for our boy and girl!
Amazing how 6 years go by, how some things change (how we spend out time) and some things stay the same (how much we love each other, time together, and the fact that Josh has been a best friend to me from early in our relationship and will always be that presence in my life and my desire to be in his). Looking back... makes me feel so "grown up" as a dear childhood friend said on Facebook when I posted about our upcoming 6th annivesary.
We'll see what tomorrow holds!
