This weekend, we had the best surprise for Jacob - a visit from his Grandmother and Granddaddy! It was great to see them and Jacob LOVES playing with his grandparents! They recently took a road trip to Michigan and North Carolina and Georgia, and brought little gifts for their grandchildren, which was so fun for Jacob! We love them and so enjoy time we have together as a family!
Jacob's 1st moccasins from North Carolina!
A drum from North Carolina!
Loves his drum!
Getting ready to go with Granddaddy!
The boys spent several hours at Cabela's and Jacob missed his usual nap time. When they got home, he needed a nebulizer treatment, and fell asleep with his mask on while sitting on the couch. Josh removed his mask and Jacob leaned over next to Granddaddy, fast asleep!
Sweet, sleeping boy!
(Grandmother said she would give Granddaddy time-out for keeping Jacob out so long past his nap! lol!)
While the boys shopped, my Mother and I went to a great baby shower for an old friend from junior high/high school who has a newborn baby boy! It was great to celebrate the beauty of this new little life and his Mommy! Plus, we got to see lots of old friends from Houston who are now in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that we attended church with for about 6 years!
Beautiful Mama opening presents for her little man!
Kara and me - neat to see how God crosses paths over the years!

Bed time was so special - Granddaddy read "Curious George" to Jacob and they had fun reading interactively!
Then, for his 2nd night time book, we read "Mickey's Book of Trucks" which just has the name of a truck on each page with pictures, so I made up a "story" to it long ago, so I read this one while Jacob and Granddaddy interacted.
Jacob telling us all about the truck!
Mother and Daddy brought amazing gifts from Aunt Rup (my twin sister, Virginia) for baby Ruth! She made the fleece blanket - Jacob has one like it that is a blue sports theme... LOVE these blankets! And the Washington onsie... well - Virginia wanted to inaugurate Ruth into the Bruffey women tradition of supporting the Redskins... Josh just shakes his head :-)
It was a great visit and time of laughing and catching up. I love to see how Jacob just SHINES when he sees his grandparents! Waking up Saturday and Sunday and them being here, he would just giggle with delight!

ReplyDeleteLove you too! And so thrilled for your family :-) Look forward to seeing Jake grow!
DeleteLove those fleece blankets too!!
ReplyDeleteJacob is getting to be such a big boy!!!
They are awesome blankets - love that my sister makes them! And sometimes Josh and I just sit in awe as we see the boy Jacob is becoming! His language is awesome - 3 to 4 word utterances and he picks up words like a sponge now - one of my favs to hear him say is "orange" - it's just cute! And he still picks up and uses ASL, which we love. I would so enjoy having you close where we could analyze speech development, lol!
