This past weekend, my parents came to town for a visit. Jacob was SO excited! It was great for him to have time with his grandparents - he just adores being with family and lights up to have time with all "his people"! Part of the weekend was my parents gifting us paint and mother and I painting Ruth Evelyn's nursery! Josh and I had been pricing having this room painted and considering doing it ourselves. Our house isn't all that old, but of all the rooms, this one really needs some paint - the walls had lots of scuffs and scratches. We could have lived with it, but it is SO nice to see if now with a fresh coat of paint! We were thinking of just doing a neutral color again, but Mother found this GORGEOUS, subtle shade of pink called "ballet slipper" by Valspar that I fell in love with! We are really pleased with the result and can't wait to see Ruth's bedding all in place! Here's the evolution of our painting project!
First, a quick picture of this room that was an office - that we never really got to where I was satisfied with it.
This was in May of this year, when we had started cleaning things out - there was previously a futon on the left shelf and some other shelving and a lamp and our wooden filing cabinet! It was CROWDED and cluttered!
Here's how the office-becoming-nursery is now shaping up!

We started painting edges and "creases" first and then got to work on the big surfaces - it worked great!

Josh and I had childbirth class Sunday night. We had finished painting Sunday afternoon - when we got home, Mother had put all the furniture in place in the setting that we'd talked about for arranging the room! A great surprise!

Love this crib! And now we'll just get an allergy encasement and a mattress pad and we can make up the bed!
We got this shelf for FREE! On Sunday, when we arrived home from church, it was sitting on our neighbor's curb. Josh went over and it turns out she was moving and getting rid of a ton! We LOVE this beautiful shelf and it looks so feminine and pretty - perfect for a nursery!

Thank you Mother and Daddy for such an amazing gift of your time, knowledge, paint, and just togetherness! It was a blessed weekend and we so appreciate you making the trip! Jacob had an amazing time as did we! We love you much and thank you for all you do for your children and grandchildren!
UPDATE: After my sweet boy went to bed tonight, I FINALLY cleaned out Ruth Evelyn's closet! There is only one box left up on the shelf - but it is super heavy, so Josh will move that one. But her closet is looking more like HER closet!
