We started blogging our life as best friends, husband and wife, in 2006 shortly after we got married. Once we had children, I created a new blog for our growing family. This is our blog sharing the story of our life: beginning with our first pregnancy and our journey as parents to our beloved firstborn, BB1, who arrived in our world perfectly on 11.5.2010 and his precious sister, BB2, born on 10.6.2012, our sweet third baby, BB3, born 2.3.2015, our 3rd vivacious daughter, BB6, born on 5.1.2018 and our 2nd living son and final Bruffey Baby, BB8, born 6.23.2021. We also love our 3 greatly missed babies in Heaven, BB4 (born in Heaven at 5 weeks 5 days on 10.8.2016) BB5 (born still at 16 weeks on 2.5.2017), and BB7 (born in Heaven at 7 weeks 3 days on 10.23.2019). I will share my stories of our family, of being a wife, a mother, a home manager, a friend, a woman, a Hope Mom, and a person pursuing hope in Christ through life and death, joy and pain. Welcome to our journey!

"Show me the path where I should walk, O LORD; point out the right road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you."

ZOOM: Games for Online Meet-Ups

Several weeks ago, God laid it on my heart to reach out to our church members and offer to pray. He lead me to start a prayer list and keep track of prayer needs as we are all still at home and "gathering" only via Zoom or Facebook Live. I am grateful for the Lord's leading as this is a tangible way I can serve our church family, which is often challenging when we meet in person and I have my 4 little blessings in tow. But prayer? I can do that! From there, He grew and nurtured a vision of having a women's group on FB where we could share and encourage one another. Then, the idea came for a weekly meeting where we could share, chat, pray, and play some kind of game together. It has taken some figuring to learn how to best use Zoom when the language being used is ASL and requires everyone to look at the one who is signing. Features like "spotlight" and someone to sort of lead the turn taking have been hugely helpful. After some weeks of playing Bible Trivia, I finally took time to research various game ideas for us to use to diversify our game options and thought I would share them in case others are out on the internet looking for the same kind of resources. These ideas are some my own and some pulled from sites around the web.

*NOTE: If you are a female who is Deaf or a proficient user of ASL and would like to join our FB group and participate in our weekly Zoom meetups, please message me on Facebook!

ZOOM Game Ideas

1.      I SPY (using peoples' backgrounds): -Scroll through the people in the group and whoever is "it" says they Spy something that can be found in the room behind someone.  After a few rounds, have everyone do a 180 if they can (if they're on a desktop they can't) so the background is different.
2.      BINGO: post bingo cards beforehand or, make it simple and have them print the blank one and fill in numbers using 1 to 75. Use random BINGO number generator online and one person leads the game.
3.      2 TRUTHS & A LIE: Each person thinks of 2 truths about themselves and a lie.  Everyone else has to figure out the lie.
4.      “WOULD YOU RATHER?”: Ask these questions and people take turn answering.

vi.     You bought a big box of mixed chip bags.  Some of the bags are your favorite kind of chips, some of the bags are your least favorite.  Would you rather eat your favorites first and save the others for later, or eat the others first and save your favorite for later?

xxiv.     Anoint Jesus’s head with oil or wash his feet with your tears?
xxv.     Be rescued from prison by an angel or see Jesus’s empty tomb?
5.      PICTIONARY:
a.      To play, divide your group into teams. Open a Pictionary word generator online and each person uses their own or makes up a word to draw. Choose a team to play first, as well as a designated drawer on that team. The drawer generates a word and has one minute to draw that word for their team to guess. If the team guesses the card correctly, they get a point. Zoom has a whiteboard feature when you select “Share Screen,” making it super easy for everyone to see the drawings.  One person will use the whiteboard feature of Zoom (or hold up paper and draw) while their teammates try to guess what they are drawing. Play goes back and forth between teams. Don’t forget to set the timer for each round and ask someone to track the scores.
b.      Supplies: Timer, paper/pencil to track scores, drawing surface
Teams: 2 teams OR every man for himself (2+ players)
Teams: 2 teams OR every man for himself (2+ players)
Online Play: Your goal is to act out your given word/phrase using only gestures – no talking or sound effects. To make play easier, use an online word generator (https://www.thegamegal.com/word-generator/) to choose the word you must act out for your team.
Examples: “Name 3 breeds of dog” or “Name 3 things that bounce”

6.     ASL HANDSHAPE GAME

7.      NEVER HAVE I EVER: Each person takes a turn saying, “Never Have I ever…” and list something they have never done. If someone else has done it, they put their finger up. The first person to get 10 fingers up wins! You obviously want to try and prevent people from putting their fingers up, so try and think of things that a lot of people in the group would have in common. So if you have only lived in Colorado your whole life, and you are with a bunch of people who live/have lived in Utah, you could say, “Never Have I Ever Lived in Utah.”
8.      CHARADES:
a.      Supplies: Timer, paper/pencil to track scores
b.      Charades is a basic game that translates easily to Zoom. Split your group into two teams and use a charades idea generator to choose your words and phrases. The person who's acting out the charade uses the Zoom "spotlight" feature, and their team has one minute to figure out the phrase.
9.      5 SECOND RULE:
a.      Can you name three things that fall in a given category? Easy! How about in just five seconds? Okay, there’s the challenge.
b.      Online Play: Set your timer for 5 seconds (or use the one provided in the board game box) and name 3 things in the category that is listed on the card. Continue around the “circle” of people and through the deck of cards until someone gets ‘X” amount of cards answered successfully.

So there you have it - games to play for your next ZOOM meet up! I found MANY more online that would work for youth group or children ZOOM gatherings, but these seemed the most fitting for adult women from church (and things I enjoy!).
