Jacob's precious hair had some stray edges on the front that I found I was often brushing away and just wouldn't lay right. While he was in his high chair for dinner and we were waiting for the pest control man (supposed to come between 6pm and 6:30pm right around bedtime, so I was stretching our evening - but he never came... sigh)... I decided to trim his hair! I told myself it was just a trim off the front and not a real haircut, so at first I wasn't going to take pictures - that would be when we did a full, "real" haircut. After 33 years, I obviously don't know myself well enough, LOL. As soon as I trimmed a little and, with his fine hair (like his Mama), it fell to the ground and I couldn't find it to keep - my heart dropped and I thought "what am I doing?!! This is a big moment!" I am all about life's moments and celebrating them in some way - especially my son's precious life! So, I grabbed the camera and this precious silver "first curl" box my mother gave us - and put a bit of the next couple of snips in this box to save. He wasn't thrilled about the experience because he was tired and wanted his green beans. Plus, when I took pictures, I took his pacifier out (he's teething again - his 5th tooth just came through and those little gums are so swollen in other places, too - and the only "teether" he'll use is a pacifier) and he was not thrilled to lose the bink!
But he always comes around for pictures! Here are some pictures to highlight this moment in Jacob's precious life.
Ummm.... mom, what did you do?
hello Mama - why did you take my bink??
Could I please have my binky back?
you just hand over the binky, and i'll keep this dorky haircut incident to myself...
Jacob's precious hair!
I love you my boy!
~ Mama
