A sweet friend from a church we consider family in TN has offered to adopt our Betsey. We will drive Betsey to her when we visit family this summer! WANTED: A loving, forever home for both of our beloved dogs!
We really want to find a place where they will be loved and cared for, either together or apart, and know a happy life. We hate to have to find new homes for them, but my young son's health necessitates this. We will include all of our dog things (crates, collars, leashes, dog bowls, toys, etc.) to our dogs' new family(s).
My husband, Josh, and I have 2 small dogs that we adore. However, we also have a 16 month old son who has developed breathing and upper respiratory problems and we need to find new home(s) for our furry babies. We tried working with our vet, but have not been able to find a home as of yet.
Here is information about both of our dogs and I have attached a picture of each dog. I also have videos of the dogs that are on youtube that I provided the links for as well.
Here is both information about and pictures of our dogs:
1. Kylee Anne Bruffey (goes by Kylee) (she is who we feel we need the most help finding a good, loving forever home)
· Born around 9/3/2006
· Rescued: was found in a rescue from the home of an older woman who was a dog hoarder with a big heart but not enough resources - Kylee was part of a litter that was found - many of the adult dogs were sick, but Kylee was a healthy little pup.
· Breed: her Mama was a shih-tzu and we THINK her dad maybe a schipperke.
· Shots: caught up on all exams and shots (3/26/12)
· Spayed: YES
· Lives Inside: YES
· Heartworm Preventative: YES
· Temperament: exactly like what I read about shih-tzu/schipperke mixes! very high spirited, loves her people, loves to run and play, but also will curl up with her people; she is house broken and crate trained. Kylee is good with one other dog, but also is really good as the lone alpha :-) She is probably best if a family has children with ages 5 and older - though she has been fine with my son (15 months old) - we always watched her with him and vice versa, especially when he was crawling she just ran away - now that he is a solid walker she has warmed up more and will let him play with her toy with her, but I think introducing her to a new home - if there are kids, ages 5 and older are better.
· Behavior: we have worked with her and use sign language - she knows SIT and then we hold a palm out for WAIT (like "stay") and the word BACK means to leave the room (ie - the kitchen when I'm cooking or feeding my son :-) ) and OFF (meaning get off people or furniture); the only areas that are still areas I would like to work on but have not had the time with a little person in our world is the fact she gets SO excited when new people come to our home and will jump and it takes a bit before she will attend to a command, the other area is barking when someone knocks or rings the bell. People tend to love her because she is so much fun, unique and just a wonderful dog.
· Health: Kylee is special needs. She has seizures and is on phenobarbital (twice a day) and potassium bromide (once a day); she also has a weak knee that sometimes pops out and Dr. Jones has said it MAY one day need surgery - for now she is on a joint supplement to help maintain her strength - to watch her play and run you wouldn't know - just on occasion she'll seem to trip when running. She has all her tags and licenses.
** Kylee was our first dog - we got her when she was about 7 weeks old just 2 months after we got married and she has grown with us and our marriage. We love her but due to our son's illness and health, we need to find a home to love her and care for her for the rest of her life.

2. Betsey Doodle Bruffey (adopted! Will move to her new home summer 2012)
- Birthday: born around May 31, 2007
- Rescued: was dropped off by a breeder at a rescue organization where we lived in Alabama (we found her through petfinder.com) - we suspect because she is a mix
- Breed: she is chihuahua and seems to be a chihuahua mix
- Shots: caught up on all exams and shots (3/26/12)
- Spayed: YES
- Lives Inside: YES
- Heartworm Preventative: YES
- VET: Dr. Randy Jones at CityView Animal Hospital in Fort Worth (817-294-7733)
- Temperament: house broken and crate trained; Betsey is the IDEAL family dog - she is small and VERY submissive (it seems she was mistreated by the breeder where she was born - when we got her she cowered at EVERYTHING and didn't bark for months - not for anything - but after TLC and becoming family, she is loving and sweet and just a wonderful dog for adults and children); She likes to play, but is just as content curling up in your lap and giving you kisses.
- Behavior: we have worked with her and use sign language - she knows SIT and then we hold a palm out for WAIT (like "stay") and the word BACK means to leave the room (ie - the kitchen when I'm cooking or feeding my son :-) ) and OFF (meaning get off people or furniture); the only areas that are still areas I would like to work on but have not had the time with a little person in our world is the fact she will bark when someone knocks or rings the bell or a new person comes in the house. People tend to love her because she is so sweet and easy going and GREAT with children - she was the protector of my son from the day we brought him home as a newborn and always gentle.
- Health: Betsey is very healthy! She has all her tags/licenses and is a healthy girl :-)
- Betsey would be good with other dogs - she is a great little sister to Kylee - but would also be fine with an attentive loving family where she is the only dog. She is fascinated by cats :-) She is just a little lover - when I'm sick or my son is sick, she'll sit on this pillow at the entrance to the bedroom door "guarding". When my son was little and would cry as newborns do - she would run to me with a look like "are you gonna take care of him or should I?" :-)

Thank you!! This is heart-wrenching for us, but we are praying and believing the right home for the precious pups will be found.
