Well, as of the writing of this post, our precious daughter is 7 months, 1 week and 1 day old! Life is busy, full and a blessing beyond any I could have imagined! I am in the life I would have dreamed of if only I had known to! Keeping up with our blog doesn't happen as often anymore, but I love sharing some of the milestones of our girl!
She cut 2 teeth (lower middle) in the last month and the upper front teeth gums are so swollen. Teething is just a cruel party of babyhood! But Ruth's 1st two teeth came in pretty easily with just some minor sleep disruptions (shorter naps) and some fussiness, but she started moving her tongue out and over her gums and that's when I thought "teeth?" and sure enough, one tooth through and the 2nd had a corner out and was through within a couple of days!
Also in the past month she learned to roll over from back to tummy! Of course, she did this during nap time one day - she just kept "talking" and wouldn't settle to sleep, then all the sudden she cried out and I looked in the monitor as I made my way to her room to see her on her tummy looking quite frustrated and confused! Sweet baby! It took about a day for her to settle into sleeping in her tummy (because every time we laid her on her back, she flipped right over!).
She WANTS to be mobile, She scoots in a circle on her tummy and, while visiting Tante Maren in Dallas, she started pushing up on her knees and now does that all. the. time. and rocks back and forth and then pushes... backwards! We think it won't be too long before she crawls, so life is about to get even more interesting!
She sits up REALLY well - I just sat her down one day to see and she stayed sitting and started playing. She weeble wobbled over at one point, but each day sat longer and now will just sit and play and play and play.
She LOVES her big brother - if he walks in the room she sees nothing else! She gives him her biggest smiles and is fascinated watching him play. Her Daddy makes her laugh (which he loves) and I love her snuggles when she stops long enough to give them - she is my social butterfly!
BUTTERFLY BABY
I call her my butterfly baby for many reasons... but the more this theme has evolved in my heart and mind the more true it has become. I'll later do a more involved post that details why, but I love my strong, surviving butterfly girl! Who, fitting as it is, is my social butterfly child as well!
A few things we now have for our butterfly journey:
A breastfeeding necklace:
This is the pendant on a breastfeeding necklace I ordered from a great etsy shop my sister-in-law told me about: http://www.etsy.com/shop/prettylizard I plan for this to be a legacy piece that I pass on to my daughter!
A taggie blanket
This is a taggie blanket made by a local Mama in a group I started, Lubbock Crunchy Moms (sister group to DFW Crunchy Moms) who I am getting to know! We love it!
A woven wrap!
I recently ordered what I think will be what is called a legacy wrap for our family! This is a carrier that you choose to keep to pass on to your children to use when they have babies. It is a pink butterfly woven wrap! It is 100% cotton made by Didymos, which is a company that, as a twin, I connect with. I cannot wait until it arrives!
Now some pictures of our girl!
I love this little outfit my Mother gave Ruth Evelyn! AND the bow!!!
These pictures were taken on Mother's Day - I have been waiting to put her in this dress and it was SO beautiful! My doll baby girl!
She decided she wanted to sit up!
Looks JUST like my twin sister here!
I'm coming Mama!
I am loving our bows!
We love you baby girl!! You are my sweet butterfly baby - our miracle doll and we love you so much! Your Daddy says, "she is just a sweetheart!" and I agree. Your big bright eyes that mesmerize those we meet and your smile that melts my heart!
Your big brother loves you! We printed out pictures of you for your scrapbook calendar and he wanted one for his wall, so we hung it up next to a picture of Grandmother and Granddady.
